I thought i had put a tampon in the night before but couldn't find it the next morning so i put another in easily. could there have been one there?

If a tampon went in easily likely none was lost inside. You can feel inside and make sure you don't have a tampon there. A tampon left in the vagina will give a bad odor after a few days. Some women will have to have an exam to have it removed.
