MRI : New onset headache in a patient over 50 years of age and abrupt onset of a new or different type of severe headache are red flags new daily persistent headache you are referring to is characterized by a relatively abrupt onset of headache (within 3-5 days) that does not remit and is persistent. Mri is necessary to rule out the presence of any brain pathology. It is none remarkable most of the time.
