A member asked:

I have nocturnal lagophthamalos. will i have to treat with a lubricating eye gel indefinitely to help with the moderate dry eye symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Helpful: If your eyes drift apart at night during sleep, there is considerable corneal drying ; subsequent irritation that results. Sometimes scarring, ulceration, blurriness, or even loss of vision can occur. Intensive lubrication at night with an tear ointment base product works best. Sleep goggles are useful. Seeing an eye md for an evaluation of your eyelids for possible surgical tightening may help.
