Depends on the issue: This is a tough question to answer without knowing what the deformity is. When babies' heads become flattened in areas due to sleeping, for example, special helmets can be customized and worn to improve the shape. The baby's doctor can examine the skull, and refer to either the helmet folks, or a craniofacial specialist for further evaluation. Hope this is helpful.

Hard to say: If 2 years have gone by with no therapy and the skull is misshapen, it is unlikely to self correct. There are a variety of skull defects triggered by abnormal fetal position or premature fusion of the growth lines, each requires a different treatment and response varies.Self correction is most likely with positioning or helmets in the first year. Growth line fusion usually requires surgery.
