A member asked:

Would any type of thyroid disease(hypothyroid/hyperthyroid/any other kind of thyroid disease) effect an hiv antibody test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: The most common cause of a false negative HIV antibody test is testing during the "window period" between the time of viral transmission and acute HIV seroconversion. False positive tests are rare and usually result from labeling errors. I am unaware of any bearing that thyroid disease may have on the accuracy of HIV antibody assays.
