Yes.: Fever will increase the metabolic rate, and make the heart rate and breathing rate go faster. But there are other things that can make a little one breathe faster, like pneumonia or asthma. Because breathing is non-negotiable, have your child seen - particularly if her color is poor, her breathing is noisy, her activity is less vigorous, or her appetite is decreased. Better safe than sorry.
