Normal sugar levels: For children and non-pregnant adults, normal blood sugar (glucose) level is considered <100 mg/dl in fasting morning state, and <140 mg/dl after a meal. Anything above these levels is considered either pre-diabetes (fasting 100-125, post-meal 140-199) or diabetes mellitus (fasting >=126, post-meal >=200 mg/dl). Low blood sugar varies depending on person, but typically is considered <60-70 mg/dl.

It Depends: A normal fasting blood sugar is ranges between 65-99 mg/dl. 2-hours following a meal a normal blood sugar is less than 140 mg/dl. These are based on lab glucose values. A home glucometer may be off some.
