Hormone changes: Post pregnancy, especially if breast feeding, your hormones are at very different levels than at any other times. This makes your periods, if you even have them while breastfeeding, very different than what you are used to. Most of the time you are not ovulating if you are nursing full-time (natures way of spacing out your kids). So you may have some light, irregular breakthrough bleeding.
