A member asked:

What is the success rate for people who get pancreas transplants?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pancreas transplant: A pancreas transplant is sometimes done in people with type 1 diabetes who are also getting a kidney transplant, since they will be getting powerful immunosuppressants for the kidney anyway. How successful? 5 yr survival of insulin production was 50% but there has been some recent improvement, and some centers that do a lot of this have better results. You may not get off insulin, just take less.
