Many possibilities: There are many types and causes of skin rashes. Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Need more info: Rashes are a general term for any lesions that affect the skin and are not growths. Hives (in medical terms) are urticaria; they usually present as red flat-top itchy swollen lesions, which can be discrete or merge into large patches. Hives happen in 1 of 5 people at least once for no good reason. Without knowing how your rash looks, i can't say anymore. See y our doctor.

Chronic hives: Hives usually gets worse at night regardless of the cause. Try taking antihistamine from 2 to 4 doses a day (higher than the dose for hay fever) and if this doesn't help, consult an allergist.
