Herpes Zoster: Is common form of cutaneous neuropathic pain is associated with herpes zoster infection. Symptomatic treatment with analgesics is recommended when the course of the disease is uncomplicated and there is little or no pain. However, for most cases of acute hz the use of antiviral therapy (acyclovir or valacyclovir), is recommended to prevent post-herpetic neuralgia.
