I'm concerned because the classical antipsychotic drugs produce side effects?

Talk to your doctor: It sounds like you are referring to typical antipsychotics. They do have some severe side effects including the dreaded tardive dyskinesia that will produce potentially permanent increases in purposeless movements. There are newer antipsychotics with lower incidences of severe side effects so i would talk to your prescribing physician about the possibility a better choice. Stay safe!
