Might be an abscess?: Best guess, it sounds like an abscess/boil/skin infection. (obviously difficult to be super sure without seeing it/touching it.) See a doctor to decide if it should be drained. Maybe be put on antibiotics. In the meantime, do hot soaks for 20 minutes 3 or more times daily.
