Where and why?: While over the counter hydrocortisone cream is a low potency topical steroid, it is best to identify the reason why the steroid is needed in the first place. If the trigger can be found and avoided, then hydrocortisone may not be needed. Also, certain areas of the body where there is thin skin (eyes, groin, etc) should not have topical steroids applied repeatedly. A dermatologist help!
