A member asked:

Can you tell me is it as similarly possible to detect bacterial and fungal infections in immunocompromised patients as in immunocompetent?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes and No: When you are immunocompromised, we cannot rely as well on things like your WBC (white blood cell count) when determining if an infection is present. However, the gold standard tests for checking for infections, the different cultures ( such as a culture of your blood, urine, throat, wound drainage, etc) is as reliable if your immune system is out of whack. SO you may get treated waiting for cxs.
