A member asked:

What should i do if i have had swollen tonsils for almost 3 weeks, and it started with strep. what is wrong?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sore throat: Streptococcal pharyngitis responds very well to appropriate anibiotics. After antibiotics fever/ sore throat gets better but swollen tonsils which is from inflammation can takes few weeks to go back to normal. If your sore throat is not better it may be due to concurrent viral illness or a secondary complication from strep throat.
