Chronic ear pain: is usually initially evaluated by your primary care practitioner, and often referred to an ENT (ear nose and throat) specialist.

Pain meds first: If you have severe pain, try some pain medications first. Usually over the counter Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen works well. Anything stronger will need a prescription. You should see your primary doctor or an ENT specialist to determine the cause of your ear pain as well.
