Loving Dogs: This is actually a common problem and question. The obama family has this issue with one of their daughters. There are actually breeds of dogs that have little to no allergy causing hair. These hypo-allergenic dogs are well known and your vet or other experts can help you find the right dog that will not cause you to be ill.

See allergist: The minimum you need to do is to keep the dog outside of your bedroom. The next step would be taking medications (otc or rx) or a regular basis. Lastly allergy shots can often be very effective. Before you acquire a dog however, you should take the above points in mind.
