What's your diet?: Diverticulosis and diverticulitis are far more common in western countries; this is believed to be due to the high red meat, low fiber diet we are famous for. If you live in the us and have adopted a western diet, the risk of diverticular disease is present regardless of your country of origin.

Ethnic: Background only plays a role as it relates to diet. Hi fiber diet with vegetables and fruit, common in asian populations, seems to have a protective effect but anyone can get diverticulitis.

Chronic diverticular: Infection can cause decreased energy and stamina in that your body is using all its reserves to control the infection. Depends: Most episodes of diverticulitis improve within 2-3 days of starting antibiotics and you are back to normal within a week. About 20% will not respond to antibiotic treatment and will need to have the infected segment of colon removed. If you are not getting better contact your doctor or go the the emergency room.
