It used to be: Recommended that a person not sleep after a head injury due to concerns that complications would go unnoticed. If you don't have symptoms of a concussion or other serious head injury complications - it is alright to sleep. If you do have sxs of complications - recommend that you seek medical evaluation.

Exam: In general, by keeping the injured person awake, it allows for others to watch them closely in case the injured person begins to display neurologic changes early and allow for a more prompt trip to the hospital. If someone is sleeping, it would be much more difficult for an observer to know if the injured person is deteriorating.
