Not good!!: Gum disease starts with mild gingivitis which is inflammation of the gum tissues around the teeth. When it gets a little advanced , pockets starts forming around the teeth allowing more plaque, bacteria and food particles to collect in those pockets, making the tissues around the teeth more infected and collect pus making the pockets larger and it turns into periodontitis as infection travel deeper.

See a periodontist: also called gingivitis and periodontal disease. Regardless of the way it looks, the health of your mouth, teeth and gums can affect not only the oral health but also the general health. Periodontists are dentistry's experts in treating periodontal disease.
