Restasis for dry eye: Blepharitis and dry eye are very common and can be reviewed from info on the web. You can try artificial tears first if not already using. Restasis helps in some dry eye, takes awhile to work, slightly better than artificial tear gel, commonly stings.

Yes: Restasis will take 8 weeks to begin to work, so don't evaluate it yet. In the meantime, dilute baby shampoo in your hand with water. Then take your finger and wioe your lashes back and forth with the dilute baby shampoo. Then put a warm mosit towel over your eyes for 5 minutes. Do this twice a day. Also, take oral over the counter fish oil tablets to make more oil for your tears.

Blepharitis: Sounds like you have blepharitis, sometimes referred to as dandruff of the eyelashes. I have many patient that have problems with baby shampoo scrubs. I recommend ocusoft lid scrubs. If this does not take care of it, then you may need an antibiotic and possibly steroid drop or combination to treat the condition. Oral omega 3's can help the health of the eyelid margin as well.

Get another opinion: Sounds like you may well have blepharitis. Often dry eye and blepharitis co-exist in the same patient and both require treatment to bring full relief. I would recommend a second examination by the same or different eye doctor before trying to self-medicate.
