Hormones: Some women get a release of histamine during the hormonal changes of the menstrual cycle which can cause itching. Birth control usually solves the problem. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is also effective.

Itch: As the other doc said - histamine release can occur. Topical Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can be a life saver ! good luck.
