Rib most common: Most likely cause is pain from either the intercostal muscles , or nerves. This is a sharp , stabbing pain that may radiate towards the back. Deep breathing and coughing increase this pain. See your family doctor to assess pleuritic chest pain, costochondritis, variant asthma, or cardiac causes.
