A member asked:

How should i be expected to fast for 8 hours to do lab work if i could possibly have insulinoma? i don't understand how considering the circumstances

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Opposite effect: I don't really know what is being tested but the problem with insulinomas are actually the drop in blood sugar after eating. The rise in blood sugar after eating causes the production and release of too much Insulin as a response to the rise in blood sugar. After fasting, the proinsulin, c peptide, blood sugar is tested and correlated and imaging may be done if suspected.
