Wellbutrin/pregnant: No one can give you a "for-sure" answer. While there is no definite link between wellbutrin (bupropion) and any specific birth defects, being on any medication, alcohol, tobacco smoke, etc during the first trimester may have effects on the developing fetus. So much is going on during this time. Even if the baby is born with some type of problem, there is no way for sure to know it was from the wellbutrin (bupropion).

No: No, since you stopped it so quickly, the baby should be fine. However, it is always best to plan pregnancy and be free of all CNS medications before becoming pregnant.

Most likely ok: At such an early point, usually if the drug (whatever it is) is going to affect the fetus, it will have such a massive effect that it will cause a miscarriage. If you do not have a miscarriage early on not unusual even for people not on meds at the time they learn they are pregnant), typically that is a sign that the wellbutrin (bupropion) has not affected the fetus. Make sure your OB is aware however.

Not likely: The manufacturer’s pregnancy registry reported no increased risk for major birth defects among over 1, 000 pregnancies with first trimester exposure to bupropion. Other studies involving over 1, 300 pregnancies exposed to bupropion in the first trimester also showed no increase in the rates of birth defects when bupropion was taken during pregnancy. http://www.mothertobaby.org/files/bupropion.pdf.
