A member asked:

What are the chances of getting a false negative on a home pregnancy? we ttc, had sex on the right days and my period is a day late.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HPTs are good: Home pregnancy tests are easy to do, fast, and highly accurate, but not 100%. Maybe it is a tad bit early at this time. I would suggest repeating in 3-5 days to make sure. If you are pregnant, there is a very good chance that the hpt will show postive after 5-7 days of missing your regular period. You are only 1 day late, but this may just be a later than usual--it happens. Consult doc. Good luck.
