Post traumatic stres: Post traumatic stress disorder is a chronic disorder which as your question suggests may extend for many years even life long. Remission is attainable, however relapse is always possible with exposure to new stressful experiences. Returning to normal is certainly possible as time passes from the trauma. However like most medical conditions there is a wide range of severity and persistent symptoms.

Yes: U could make a case 4 most combat vets most abused kids most adult children of alcoholics have ptsd only a small part of these r treated most recover through self help or peer to peer contact those getting compensation however rarely do.

Even better!!: The hope is that as we renegotiate with life and integrate and move forward we are an expanded version of who we were before... The recovery path may be lengthy in some cases and painful at times... But healing is very much possible...
