A member asked:

Can constipation cause feces to accumulate in your body over time? leading to years-old feces in the body? or will all extra feces clear when you go?

Feces usually pass: Constipation can lead to an impaction of stool in the rectum. When there is a large collection of hard impacted stool, liquid stool may go around the large mass. It can be diagnosed by a rectal exam and by xray. It occurs frequently in people who withhold their stools, and have large dilated rectums as a result of the impaction.
