A member asked:

How dangerous is it when a bone/joint in the neck moves forward and pushes in on the esophagus? i have a bone that has moved in the past few months

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I suspect...: That's what you are describing is actually a bony spur arising from the cervical spine and pushing into the esophagus. This usually produces symptoms of pain or discomfort with swallowing. It is not actually a displacement of the cervical spine. This is not usually treated unless it becomes uncomfortable enough that the patient is willing to undergo the surgery which is done by an orthopedic surg.
