Hypoglycemia: Humalog (insulin lispro) 50/50 is 50% rapid insulin, and 50% long acting insulin. The fast acting Insulin covers the meal, the longer acting Insulin gives you a baseline level. There are side effects from lowering your glucose (eg. Hypoglycemia), but that is what the drug is supposed to do. The proportion of short acting Insulin is high in this preparation. Consider spending time with a diabetes educator.
