Many possibilities: It could be infection, it could be from trauma, it could be an allergy from some chemical , it could be vaginal atrophy from a fall in hormone levels. Most likely a physician can can examine the vaginal area and give you a diagnosis, and then suggest a treatment.

Multiple causes: Multiple possibilities can lead to vaginal burning. You could have an infection, and need to be examined and treated for this. You could also have vaginal dryness or irritation from hormonal or other causes. Sexual activity can lead to vaginal irritation in some women too -- especially if intercourse comes before sufficient vaginal lubrication does.
