What discomfort are : You experiencing? Traditionally the plate/screws are recommended to be left in for at least 15-18 months, and then removed. If the discomfort symptoms can be controlled easily, then i would recommend to have it removed as near to the 16-18 months time since the surgery. Discuss with your orthopod.

Discuss w/ surgeon: Sounds like u had a good result after a plating of your midshaft humerus fx. Discomfort or pain?Discuss w/ your surgeon options. Many surgeons prefer to keep hardware in long bone fractures for a min.Of 1 yr. Also, hardware removal from the humerus is not w/out some risks (re- fracture, infection, nerve injury). Your " discomfort " may improve over the next 6 months. Re-evaluate then. Best of luck.
