Not a concern: While our children may inherit our traits they develop in their own unique way. In my experience nervous moms make good mothers. Having a child sometimes can help nervous moms learn to relax. Having a child brings a lot of changes. If OCD runs in the family then the child can be at increased risk.

Depends: Some of the anxiety disorders do have a genetic component in that there is a chance a child has a chance of having the same diagnosis as the parent. Ocd, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder can be passed on to children, but not at a 100% rate. Helping your wife manage her anxiety, having her model to your child how she managed her anxiety well can help.
