A member asked:

Can antidepressants cause you to develop food allergies? how long do these tablets stay in your system if you stop after having them for 8 years?

No effect on food: Allergies. Never stop an antidepressant without discussing the risks and benefits with your prescribing physician. Each antidepressant has a different half-life and they can clear your system depending upon which medication you're on from between generally five days to five weeks.

Not related: Antidepressants do not cause food allergies , in fact the tricylic and quadricyclic types of antidepressants actually have strong antihistaminic effects which may mask symptoms from food allergies.
