A member asked:

How reliable is a negative hiv test 23 weeks after possible exposure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on the test: A negative test for HIV nucleic acid will rule out HIV at 23 weeks after exposure. Absence of HIV antigen will essentially rule out hiv. Absence of antibody will more or less rule out HIV but should be confirmed with HIV nucleic acid test.
