Oral Thrush: Caused by yeast called candida or monilia, common in neonates from contact in birth canal. Lesions are white plaques covering oral, pharyngeal mucosa, tongue, inner lips and cheeks. When removed rubbing, raw beefy mucosa with pinpoint bleeding seen. Discomfort may cause feeding problem in infants. Other causes: myelo-suppressive therapy, immunodeficiency, endocrine diseases, antibiotic use, etc.
