Pulpal pain: Pulpal pain can be provoked by many factors including heat and cold, pressure from teeth contact, head position. Sounds like the pain of irreversible pulpitis that is characterized by prolonged pain provoked by a stimulant or is spontaneous. My recommendation is: cover the tooth with otc feeling material, otc advil (ibuprofen) 2 tab as need it. See your dentist first thing in the morning for diagnosis and tx.
