Depends: You only have to wear "clear retainers" to whiten teeth if using a gel that requires a suitable container to hold the whitening gel in place for extended time. If you use the "in office" system, you'll be in the office during the procedure that won't require the clear trays. If using over the counter strips, no tray is needed either.
