Pediculosis pubis: Is the name for crabs infesting the pubic area. Crabs (lice) often live in the pubic area or near the anus. The lice’s saliva can cause a person to become very itchy, which is usually worse at night. There may be spots on skin that look bluish gray where the lice has bitten. Sores can develop when skin is scratched. The diagnosis is made by identifying adult lice or for their eggs in the hair.
