A member asked:

Can the overgrowth of yeast in the body cause pneumonia or increase your risk for getting pneumonia or are they two unrelated things ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Generally unrelated: Where would yeast be overgrowing. This theory of yeast overgrowth producing many other issues has never been scientifically proven and when subjected to inquiry does not stand up. Now, if you are immune suppressed, like with HIV disease you can have multiple illnesses simultaneously and this can include systemic yeast infections and pneumonia. Hope this is not you. Have a good thanksgiving.
