Surgery: Ganglions are cysts arising from the membrane surrounding your wrist joint. They are notorious for recurring if not excised completely. A trained hand surgeon can remove them with a short procedure. Even after surgery they can recur but rarely do. All other methods of removal (including the traditional: hitting them with a big book) have unacceptably high recurrence rates.
