Comfort, easier care: Ng tube is uncomfortable, can result in regurgitation, and may be unsightly for some. A tube placed into the stomach or jejunum requires a minor surgical procedure, and when properly done ends up with you having comfort, easier care, and these tubes are beneath clothing. NJ vs GJ tubes: There are a number of key differences between a naso-jejunal tube versus a gastro-jejunal tube: 1) point of insertion--nj goes thru your nose while gj is placed thru your skin ; presumably is more comfortable; 2) reliability--nj ; gj tubes notoriously both flop back into the stomach, but the frequency is a little higher with the ng device; 3) nj tubes can cause esophageal trauma; gj tubes don't.
