Prozac (fluoxetine) vs Anafranil: You wrote previously about taking Anafranil for ocd, and complained of memory problems that you thought were related to anafranil. Prozac (fluoxetine) is in a different class, yet affects serotonin reuptake like Anafranil did -- and with less sedation. Ultimately you may need a higher dose of prozac, (fluoxetine) though. Please work closely with your psychiatrist so that your dose can be optimized accordingly.

OCD: Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is FDA approved for treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Depression. Anafranil is a tricyclic antidepressant that is approved for treatment of OCD. Once you get a trial of Prozac you will find out if it is effective for you. High doses of SSRI's are often needed for treatment of OCD.
