Absolutely!: Folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles. It is a common problem and usually treated with good skin care, and soap and water. However sometimes it needs either topical or systemic antibiotics. Some infections can be fairly serious, so if it progresses, or you start having things like fever, get seen right away.

Depends on type: It depends on whether it is superficial, or deep folliculitis. If it is superficial it usually responds to antibacterial soaps. If it is deep or refractory it will usually respond to Dicloxacillin 250mg PO qid for 7 to 10 days or a cephalosporin. It is probably best to check with your primary care if you have any doubts as to what you are treating or why it has not improved.
