Chipped teeth: The best way to restore a chipped tooth is the technique that removes the least amount of tooth structure. That would be with either direct resin bonding or a prepless porcelain veneer, depending on a number of factors. Color, position of tooth in the mouth, cost and several more. Preserve tooth structure.

Chipped tooth: How large is the chip? Which tooth? Front or back? If its a back tooth and it is a small chip, smoothing it might be sufficient.. If it's a large chip and the tooth is painful when eating, then a full crown is best. If it's a front tooth, and not painful, and it's longer than the tooth on either side, smoothing might suffice. If it's a small chip, direct bonding could suffice. More damage? A crown.

Chipped Tooth: If the chipping is small, assuming on a front tooth, a comoposite bonding material can be used to repair the damage. If the chipping is large, the tooth could need a veneer or even a crown. It depends the size. Is up to the patient and the dentist to decide what is best.

Depends: What caused the chip? I prefer the least invasive procedure but it also depends on what we have to work with. Often slight chips are repaired with composite bonding. If the tooth has a large chip with many visible cracks, often a Porcelain Veneer or all ceramic crown would be the treatment of choice. An occlusal mouth guard may also be needed. See your dentist for a thorough evaluation.

Do it soon: The absolute best method is done quickly. Whatever the damage, large or small, "a stitch in time saves nine". Timely restoration could be as little as smoothing out an area to as much as an extraction. Treatment put off May be of no consequence , but if severe may lead to extreme pain and/or infection

Bonding/veneer/crown: It depends upon which tooth is chipped & how bad?If the chip is restricted to enamel or dentin,it can be repaired with bonding,if it it is small.Large chips in the front teeth may require Veneer or a crown.Back teeth chips can be filled with fillings. If the chip is large,It may need acrown. If the chip involves the exposure of the pulp tissue, it may need a root canal before it is restored.Rx Exam
