Herpes simplex: Don't know how you were tested, but most often this is a clinical diagnosis based upon the mode of presentation of the lesions. Treatment, unless begun immediately after onset is seldom effective in shortening the duration of symptoms. You don't say where the infection occurred, but am assuming genitally, in which case you might want to be tested for other stds. Hope you are well soon.
