Difficult problem: Vitiligo can be a frustrating disease due to it's cosmetic result. Treating vitiligo can be difficult. However localized vitiligo is best treated with phototherapy such as narrow band uvb. There are home units available by prescription form a dermatologist if multiple office visits is not practical.

Steroids and vit D: Topical steroids in combination with vitamin d3 analogs are the first line agents. Second line agents include topical calcineurin inhibitors (protopic, elidel) and narrow band uvb therapy. Another option is excimer laser therapy.
