General Surgery 32 years experience
Gallstones: Once your biliary system makes gallstones it is ongoing. Passing the gallstones can be dangerous, if the stones get stuck in the duct system. I am not sure if "flushes" really work. However, avoiding fatty foods, increasing your hydration does help to control symptoms. Gallbladder removal with surgery is nearly always curative, as the stones originate in the gallbladder.
