No: A nuclear medicine thyroid scan is a simple test. The amount of radioactive material you receive is very very small and will no cause any side effects. However, you still want to make sure you are not pregnant before doing the test.

Not usually: The material used in this test will not make you feel sick. However, you may have anxiety with injections, and can have symptoms from that. Discuss any anxiety issues with your Doctor and the nuclear technologist before the study.
